Given the forecast and the howling wind, I didn’t think I would be going anywhere, but there was no indication that the plane had been cancelled and sure enough, it took off on time and with a tail-wind flew to Vienna in record time. The worst part of the journey was getting to Paddington as many of the surrounding areas were shut due to fallen trees. But here I am safely back in my spiritual home. Having left Blighty in the grip of the storms, I was surprised to find Vienna sunny and 20 deg, so all thoughts of work were abandoned and the afternoon was spent on the beach reading a book and feeling guilty, well TBH, not that guilty.
