Hmmm, I got into a bit of a muddle with today’s word. A “Phaser” is ‘A device for changing or controlling the phase of an oscillation or waveform; a phase shifter’, whereas I always thought it was a device used on Star Trek for beaming up. But I think I confused my beamers and my phasers, as a phaser is also a laser weapon and it appears that some other device was used for beaming up – maybe it was just a radio command? My excuse is that not being a Star Trek fan, I was looking for beamers, thinking they were phasers, and thought this pic was the closest thing. And then I discover, on looking at the enlarged pic, that it’s just a mobile phone. No wonder that he didn’t suddenly beam away…
