“Tropicopolitan” means: ‘Belonging to or inhabiting the whole of the tropics, or tropical regions generally’ (OED). There wasn’t a huge amount of choice for this – a carton of Tropicana was one option, a can of bug spray another or MisterMac’s panama hat. But instead, I chose this abandoned building because it reminded me of Florida (tenuous, I know, but it did – particularly of the time we were lost and every service station seemed to be like this as our thoughts turned more and more towards Bonfire of the Vanities). And there was a big ray of sunshine in my world today …
