Coffee fit for an emperor! Today’s word was “imperial purple”, which means: ‘Cloth of (or trimmed with) a rich crimson or purple colour; spec. (with the) a robe or garment made of this, worn as the distinguishing dress of Roman and Byzantine emperors. Hence fig.: imperial office, rank, or power’ (OED). As I spent the day at the London assessment, there was no time for tracking down literal purple, making do instead with some figurative purple.
Day #260 of a 365 project, where the daily pic is informed by theĀ OED word of the day.
