I always thought “pie-eyed” was a term used to describe someone who is drunk. And indeed it is, but it also has the meaning: ‘Wide-eyed; gazing or staring blankly as a result of stupidity, exhaustion, love, etc.’(OED). I was unable to find anyone in love today – sad, but true – but thought these shades would provide some relief for anyone who has become pie-eyed though exhaustion, drink etc.
