Given that I am such a fan of Paddington Bear, I feel a bit of a heel using him to populate today’s word, which is “Marplot” meaning “A person who or (occas.) a thing which spoils a plot or hinders the success of any undertaking.’ (OED). But although thing always turn out well in the end, let’s face it, Paddington can be a bit of a marplot at times. I was looking for kids demanding a penny for the guy, but that seems to have disappeared nowadays … and I’m sure they would insist on more than a penny ….
Day #305 of a 365 project, where the daily pic is informed by the OED word of the day.
