231114 Obnoxious Consequences

Today’s word was “obnoxious” and although it’s often used to mean ‘offensive’, its original meaning was: ‘Liable, subject, exposed, or open to a thing (esp. something actually or possibly harmful)’, (OED). Being so used to the current definition, it was tricky to get into the mindset of the alternative meaning. I’ve chosen this because it looks like a modern-day version of a Pestsaeule – a column dedicated to the victims who fell obnoxious to the plague.

Day #323 of a 365 project, where the daily pic is informed by theĀ OED word of the day.
