Today’s word was “maleficent” (‘Of a thing or spiritual agency: harmful, hurtful, malefic. With to’, OED). And since we are a kind household, there was very little choice. I therefore opted for this besom, which once belonged to a miniature witch, who was maleficent to all who crossed her.
