The denizens of Chelsea were far too busy today to be moping around in a “lovelorn” (‘Unhappy as a result of unrequited love or the loss of a lover; pining from love’, OED) state. And I was far too busy sorting out gas meters, unpacking boxes and looking for the missing kettle to go out seeking the lovelorn souls. Today’s pic is a bit of a stretch in terms of the WOTD … at this horrible time of year, I always think about Dickens – probably something to do with the cold and the misery; there’s plenty of unrequited love within his novels and a bit of staring through windows at warm, bright, happy scenes (usually involving lots of food). This is an abstract version of the ‘it all looks bright and cheerful through the window’ scenario and another pic for the out of focus collection (deliberately so, I hasten to add).
Day #339 of a 365 project, where the daily pic is informed by the OED word of the day.
