Normally the No Smoking signs comprise the rather tedious legal verbiage of ‘It is against the law blah, blah’. I thought the station showed a degree of “politesse” (‘Formal politeness; etiquette. Also: an instance of this’, OED) with this sign, but I’m surprised it can be displayed. I would have thought that it is against the law to change the wording of the No Smoking directive.
