“Planation” is: ‘The levelling of a landscape by erosion; (occas.) an instance of this’, (OED). As the incinerator is on the banks of the Donaukanal (a spur of the Danube), there’s a chance that it sits on the results of a planation that might have occurred millions of years ago; of course, there’s an equally good chance that it doesn’t. I’m wondering if there’s some sort of derivation of planation that could mean ‘levelling a landscape for construction’, since there seems to be plenty of that around.
