To borrow from Donald Rumsfeld, for some of you, the relevance of this pic in the light of recent events is a “known known”, ie. things you know you know. For others, I’m afraid it’s an “unknown unknown”, ie. something you don’t know you don’t know. But it just seemed most apposite for today’s word, which was “mumper” (‘A beggar, a mendicant; a person who sponges on others’, OED). And for those of you who aren’t sure if you know you know the known knowns, I have one word – Andrex!
