Today’s choice is a rather obvious one, for which I make no apology, as we need to finish the year on a high. For the ultimate New Year jollity, there is nothing to beat Strauss’s Die Fledermaus. As my one and only New Year’s Resolution is to drink more champagne, I’ve chosen O Fledermaus, O Fledermaus, the finale, the last part of which is often known as the Champagne Polka.
In other news, I was absolutely delighted to see that Bryn Terfel has been given a knighthood. And I’m therefore allowing a bonus track – here he is as Figaro.
