Nano is great fun and I would recommend it to anyone, but because the pressure is on the word-count, continuity does fly out of the window. I’ve just realised that in my novel, I’ve given Otto roles sung by a tenor, a baritone and a bass. Now he’s good, but I’m not sure he’s that good. I’ll need to decide what he’s going to sing in post-production. Apparently, Nicolai Geddi had one of the widest ranges – from the high F in I Puritani to the low C in Un Ballo in Maschera. And since the Ballo was the opera performed in Vienna on this very day in 1942 that determines today’s addition to the playlist – although this is neither Geddi #obvs nor the aria with the low C, which is Di tu se fedele.
